Football Tour of a Lifetime

This December we saw Carey Baptist Grammar School take a once in a lifetime football tour from Australia to the UK. Their epic adventure started on the 11th of December 2015 and lasted for 12 action packed days.

Kicking the tour off in Liverpool, the team of 34 students enjoyed a light training session at Sefton Park to burn off some of the jet lag! The following day allowed the students to spectate at the English Premier League game, Manchester City Vs Swansea. Shame about the weather though!

Over the next couple of days the team experienced a fantastic training session at The Liverpool Football Academy. Followed by a great night at Anfield Stadium watching Liverpool play against West Bromwich Albion.

The group loved visiting behind the scenes of some of the UK most famous stadiums, including Anfield, Bolton Wanderers, the Manchester City ground – Etihad Stadium, Old Trafford Stadium (the theatre of dreams) – home to Manchester United and Wembley Stadium.

On day six it was finally time for the girls and boys to practice what they had learnt in the previous training sessions with their matches against Parrs Wood High School. One of the boys game played out to the final score of Carey 5 Parrs Wood 1, with the girls’ team scoring 8-1.

Day seven saw the teams battle it out against King Edward V1 School, which again saw the Carey girls and boys celebrate another victory.

It was once again time for another training session for the Carey bunch, and this time it was by the Tottenham Hotspur coaches at their football club. Followed by a tour of the grounds and behind the scenes of White Hart Lane.

Their last full day in UK was celebrated by a visit to Chelsea’s home ground – Stamford Bridge including a behind the scenes tour and plenty of amazing photo opportunities!

In addition, their trip also included a popular visit to the iconic National Football Museum in Manchester, a day sightseeing in central London and a visit to the beautiful Winsor Castle.

Throughout their visit they kept a daily diary, including match reports and photographs, creating something they can look back on in years to come. It has been fantastic to of been involved in the tour and we hope to welcome more talented teams to the UK in the future.

Testimonial from Angelo Triandos

Carey Baptist Grammer School Football Tour

This is the second time that I have engaged your tour operating services on behalf of Carey Baptist Grammar School. This most recent tour involved 34 students and 4 staff members and was effectively double to the tour group size of December 2012.

Precision, reliability, communication, adaptability and trust were always going to be key ingredients for a successful partnership and that is exactly what I have experienced with Sports Travel South West.

From the initial planning of this tour right through to its execution and subsequent follow through, it has been a pleasure to deal with you and your team.

The feedback from participating students and staff members has been nothing but positive and an enriching football tour experience. Parents and friends of those involved were equally engaged and appreciative of the fantastic tour that took place, with long-lasting memories intact.

Compliments to the STSW team for all that you did to ensure our complete satisfaction and rest assured that I will be back in touch with you again for the next proposed tour.
