England women lose out on World Cup & Tyrrells announce sponsorship for Premier 15

England ladies lose out on World Cup Final at the Kingspan Stadium 41-32 to New Zealand but still inspire the nation, with 2.6 million viewers tuning in to watch the ITV coverage. 

womensrugby2In October RFU director Nigel Melville will meet the FA’s Baroness Sue Campbell at St George’s Park to discuss ideas on how to take the women’s game forward. 


Tyrrells announced as sponsor for newly named ‘Premier 15’ domestic women’s rugby competition…

Crisp brand Tyrrells have been named the sponsor for the women’s rugby union league for the next 3 years. 

After a tough selection process earlier in 2017, a 10 club league will start in less than 6 weeks’ time. The competition will begin 16th September. 

Nigel Melville, director of the RFU said that ‘the Tyrrells Premier 15s competition is a huge step forward for women’s rugby to strengthen the foundations of the women’s game as it continues to grow in popularity’. The Tyrrells Premier 15 will operate a league format with the top 4 teams progressing to the semi-finals played over 2 legs, culminating in a final on 29th April.
