Eddie Jones still confident for Japan 2019 despite Grand Slam failure

Despite England’s defeat by Ireland, Eddie Jones has stated that his 4-year plan remains intact.

Missing out on a Six Nations Grand Slam has not dampened the England manager’s spirits and believes his team are on target to peak in Japan 2019.

‘’One game doesn’t change our plan. We’ve got a plan in place. I know what we’ve got to do to be at our best for the World Cup. One game doesn’t affect our perception of people, or the team.’

England’s game against Ireland at the end of March was described as ‘brain dead’ and the team were also described as being ‘back to square one’ by the press.

Eddie Jones responded to this saying ‘To lose the Grand Slam game when we’ve already got the trophy is hardly a scar, it’s a learning experience.’
