Mawdesley CC to Cheltenham Mawdesley cricket club toured Cheltenham during the Spring Bank Holiday week staying in a hotel on the outskirts of the town. They played three games, Ullenwood on Tuesday, Cheltenham Civil Service on Wednesday and Painswick on Thursday. Tour report taken from the club website:- Successful Tour The Club enjoyed a successful tour to the Cotswolds during the recent half-term week with a 100% win record. Highlights were: Wilf’s awesome century (including four successive 6s); Carl’s hat-trick ball, (following a Golden Duck for the pro); Dunny's 8 overs after claiming to be a "genuine bowler"; Dan’s stumping (yes really!); Lewie making a 400 odd mile round trip for a duck; Brian's tidy first 7 overs, then the not so good last one....; Caddy looking like a menacing quick bowler....albeit on an artificial strip; Puddy's sense of relief on getting off the mark in the 2nd game, after a duck in the 1st; Dicko getting out on 50, just after he'd been asked to retire; John Wood talking to Wilf, hence missing a dolly to dismiss Bob when he had about 15 and of course – Dan Rear’s Good Beer Guide. The biggest disappointment was Melvyn Hitchen not being able to bat. Thursday’s student night at Wetherspoon’s was the social highlight. I’ve been told not to mention go-karting or wardrobes. It is planned to run the tour again next year. |
