Old Cricket Club end-of-season weekend tour to the Cotswolds Old Cricket Club, from Northampton, toured the Cotswolds staying for two nights in the London Inn, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham. Redmarley were their opponents on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday, they played Down Hatherley before returning to the Midlands in the evening Comments from the tour organiser:- We had a great time while in Cheltenham.......although some of us seemed to have a few more drinks then we should have had (me included).........but that didn't dampen our spirits. The London Inn is a good place to stay while touring. It's just about a 10 minute walk from Cheltenham town centre (and there are a few pubs en-route) and is on one of the main roads into Cheltenham so it is very easy to find and to get to. Also there is a separate entrance to the accomodation so it doesn't matter what time you leave the clubs in Cheltenham you can still get back into your room and recover, unlike some pubs that have accomodation but you can only get in through the main entrance. The staff at London Inn were great.....even knocked up a quick snack for us on the Friday evening before we "hit the town" and the breakfasts were excellent. All in all we had a great time, even if we did lose both matches (but they were mighty close). Cheers Justin Steel |
